Tesla Model 3 and Y prices increased in China for the rear-wheel drive variant
Tesla, the electric vehicle company owned by Elon Musk, has raised the price of the rear-wheel drive, or base variant, of the Model 3 and Y in China.
The company’s Chinese official website revealed the price change in the country, reports GizmoChina.
According to the report, the rear-wheel drive variant of Model 3 now costs around 265,652 yuan (about 42,000 yuan), which is an increase of 10,000 yuan (about $ 1,575) from the original price.
On the other hand, the price of the rear-wheel drive version of the Model Y was also increased to 301,840 yuan (about $ 47,560), which is about 21,000 yuan (about $ 3,320) more than the previous price.
The Model Y offers a range of 545 km on a single full charge and a top speed of 217 km / h. It can even accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 6.9 seconds.
On the other hand, the American automobile giant’s Model 3 offers a top speed of 225 km / h, with a maximum range of 556 km on a single full charge. It can go from 0 to 100 km / h in just 6.1 seconds.
The official reason for the price hike is unknown at this time, but could be due to the lingering chip shortage problem, according to the report.
