WMC Outsourced Model: Committees Notified: LG Secretary – Pakistan

LAHORE: Punjab Local Government Secretary Dr. Naeem Rauf said on Friday that the legal and operational committees were advised to finalize the outsourced model of waste management companies (WMCs).

He expressed these views while addressing a committee set up by the Chief Minister of Punjab to consider matters related to Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC). Punjab Local Government Minister Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed chaired the meeting while Lahore Division Commissioner Captain Muhammad Usman (right), LWMC CEO Rafia Haider and others Relevant officers from Urban Unit, SMU, Finance, Law and other departments were also present on this occasion. .

The secretary further told the meeting that the waste management companies will present their recommendations within the next two weeks.

Addressing the committee, the minister said people’s attitudes must be changed to ensure cleanliness in the city. He said the tendency to litter the roads should be discouraged and the LWMC should launch an awareness campaign to this end.

The meeting also discussed various suggestions regarding performance improvement as well as issues regarding LWMC’s legal framework order.
